First Female Space Tourist on Her Way to Space Station اولین توریست زن به فضا می رود
Boldly going where no female space tourist has gone before
Anousheh Ansari, a 41-year-old Iranian-American has become the first ever woman space tourist. She is also the first female Muslim and the first Iranian in orbit. Aboard a Russian Soyuz spacecraft, she will travel to the International Space Station along with an American and a Russian astronaut. The self-confessed Star Trek fan reportedly paid around 23 million euros for her ten day trip.Ansari emigrated to the US from her native Iran aged 16. After graduating in electrical engineering, she set up a telecommunications company with her husband, which they then sold for hundreds of millions of dollars. Beaming up into space is, she says, the fulfilment of a childhood dream.
"I'm happy that not only my flight but the life I've lived, so far, becomes an inspiration for our youth - especially to girls and women around the world," she said. "Looking at my background they can see that sometimes the impossible can be possible, and dreams can come true."
